Balls Auf Der Stirn

It’s Thursday, May 28, 2009 and this is the second run-through of today’s missive.

The first attempt was closing in on nearly 3 pages of wit and wisdom, when lo, my computer ground to a halt. Nothing would respond, not even Process Explorer. It’s because of this newest and greatest consumer of all available (and unavailable) system resources, Symantec “Endpoint ‘Protection’” corporate edition.

This is the second time that this POS software has brought an otherwise snappy computer to a grinding halt and required a reboot to get shed of. Both times, the system was so bogged down with this Symantec bullshit that I could only reboot from the command line, which I was lucky enough to have open.

But this time, it was no joy in DOSville. After waiting TEN FSCKING MINUTES for something to happen, I unplugged the damned thing and restored order. This new thing being inflicted upon us by the Corporate Unimatrix, our locate IT guys are powerless to do anything but tell us to reboot and listen patiently and politely while I describe in vivid detail the degree to which their bile will flow over everything I can plunge into their twitching torsos.

Look, we’re a technology company and it simply will not do to tell customers that they’re just gonna have to put up with their problems until we have our shit together enough to help them. We’re existing in a market where we can not compete on price and product. Our competition has the same services and in a lot of situations creams us in price. The ONLY area of the competition where we have any control at all is in service. Our service kicks the stuffings out of our competition and a LOT of times, this makes the difference in getting a customer to stick with us.

Anybody that fscks with that incurs my wrath and stands an excellent chance of having their bile flow over something.

So, now to try and recapture my earlier train of thought.

It looks like conservatives will make only a token effort at halting President Obama’s first Supreme Court pick and this pisses me off to no end. We need to go after her with a gusto. We need to be utterly oblivious to the fact that she’s both a female and a Latino and grind her up over two statements in particular.

First, the judge is quoted as saying that appellate court is where policy is made. Judges have an exceedingly narrow scope of responsibility where the Constitution is concerned. When judges decide to legislate from the bench, they usurp the Will Of The People with that of someone(s) who is neither elected by nor accountable to The People. When this happens, the legislative process is replaced by simple decrees and THAT is NOT what this republic is about. So, judges that somehow think they have some sort of social responsibility scare the shit out of me.

Secondly, I’m very much alarmed at her statement: “First, as Professor Martha Minnow has noted, there can never be a universal definition of wise,” Sotomayor said. “Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”
Okay, now if ANY WHITE MALE had said “I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latino woman who hasn’t lived that life.” he would be all but dragged into the street and shot. It’s more than just a little curious that a Latino woman saying this isn’t racism somehow.

Now I suppose we’ll hear from the perpetual nutjobs like Janeane Garofalo who are going to tell us that ANY criticism, ANY objections to ANYTHING about Judge Sotomayor are just from racist, teabagging rednecks. That being the case, I sure hope Janeane likes sweaty nut sacks on her forehead, because I object.

I don’t give a rat’s ass if she’s Latino or not. I don’t care if she’ s a woman or not. I don’t give a shit about ANYTHING about her except her interpretation of the law as it grinds up against the US Constitution. We’re not hiring her to be a woman and we’re not hiring her to be Latino. I’m sure she does just fine at both of these, but these aren’t even part of the job of a US Supreme Court justice.

It will be interesting to see if this reverse racism thing plays all the way through confirmation.

It’s entirely possible that I might have a new favorite TV show. Last night was the pilot of a animated show from the makers of a former new favorite show, Beavis and Butthead. The Goode Family is about a family of hopeless douchebags who are so worried bout being politically correct that they lead totally hosed existences. What’s particularly appealing to me is that I like shows where the idiot gets what’s coming to him/her and where being a dipshit has consequences. It should be on Wednesday nights at 8:00 MST.

Well, I’d probably have a bigger Thursday bog for today, but our corporate IT dipshits took care of that.

This and it seems that my call for moe-better cleavage fell on deaf ears. With that said, I offer this:

And push today’s blog up.
