It’s Monday, January 18, 2010 and my robot vacuum cleaner has a name:
Say hello to “Zuul.”

The winning name was selected by Candice in Winter Park, Fl. So, send me your size and shipping address and I’ll get your t-shirt off to you. Maybe we could get a picture of you wearing it or maybe pointing at it with a stick.
In other news, there were lots of ugly people out and about on Saturday. During our shopping, I think I can count on one hand, the number of non-ugly people I saw. Costco, the mall, Wal-Mart and even the gas station were largely populated with people who ranged from “plain” to outright hideous. I have to wonder if I’m ugly or did I not get the memo that told all non-ugly people to stay home.
In other news, ten free Hand Salutes to my brother and his wife who celebrated 10 years of marriage. Woo hoo!
In other news, either I’ve become a good deal less frightening or the people at church are getting a lot more used to me. With very few exceptions, I do not crave being pawed at. Yes, I’ll shake hands with and engage in idle pleasantries with people I don’t know, but I do not easily abide being seized by the arm as a form or greeting. In any other venue, being thusly accosted would result in one of us being on the ground with one or more joints dislocated. I’m reasonably sure that such a thing would be a sin if done within the church building, so it’s with considerable restraint that I tolerate the irresistible urge for some members to lay hands to me.
In other news, I am increasingly dumbfounded by this healthcare “reform” debacle.

Okay, the democrats hold big enough majorities in both houses of Congress to ram this through. My question then is why all this back room, cloak and dagger, closed door crap? Why were the unions brought in and handed a 7 year exemption from paying what for anyone else is seen as their fair share?
I mean if you’re worried that you’ll get voted out of office for supporting this thing, wouldn’t that be a pretty strong indication that you’re not serving the will of your constituents? It’ll be interesting to see how this Massachusetts vote to fill Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat will play out. If it’s to the point that mega-liberal Massachusetts sends up a republican to replace Ted Kennedy, I’m taking that as a sign that the American people think this healthcare “reform” thing is a hugely bad idea.

Even if they send up the democratic candidate, the question still remains of why bill required a special deal to citizens of Nebraska in order to gain the one vote necessary to push it through the Senate? Is there nothing they won’t do in order to get this thing passed? You gottah be nuts to think that there’s not gonna be a ton of lawsuits filed the day this gets signed, so why is so much going into something that’s this unpopular.

Huh? Wait for… Ah geeze. Yes, of course. I hate it when an obvious answer is sitting right in front of me and I don’t see it. The need for all this closed-door secrecy is that they can’t take our liberties while we’re watching! That’s why we have 7,000+ pages of mumbo-jumbo! If we could actually understand what this thing says, we’d probably say NO and say it loud and clear.

Sorry, but there’s no “Where I Ate” today. For some reason, we didn’t feel like dining out and kept pretty much to ourselves this weekend.
Instead, we’re rolling out a new feature, tentatively scheduled for Thursdays. I got the idea from SiAmack, our reader in Iraq, when he proclaimed “Death to sub-freezing temperatures and snow!”
With relief efforts under way in Haiti, we’re getting warnings of people setting up scams to play on the basic goodness and generosity of people. The low-life scumbags who do this sort of thing go far beyond the pale of common thieves by stealing in two directions. Not only do they steal from the fundamental desire to aid others who suffer, but they also deliberately keep money from those who truly need it. Basically, they directly contribute to the suffering.
People who could do such a thing and still live with themselves are (in my opinion) the lowest form of human life on earth. Yes, they’re actually below terrorists. At least a terrorist is trying to accomplish something bigger than simply lining their own pockets. Even during my most misanthropic moments, I can not come up with a punishment sufficiently cruel and unusual for charity scammers. Right now, the best I can come up with would be to round them up and hand them over to the Haitian government. Perhaps they’re more imaginative than I.
Speaking of whacky Iranians:

I hate it when they do that. Are they protesting this blog, or celebrating it? Whatever the case, please don’t blow up stuff that’s not yours. But if you have to, please do so far, far from anything that’s mine.
In other news, Jessica Thompson is up for parole on Tuesday the 26th.

I’m debating on whether or not to attend the proceedings. I’m not sure I have anything to contribute to those making the decision. About all I could point out is that she’s been dealt a damn shitty hand, pretty much from the day she hit the ground. I’d also point out the chickenshit way the county attorney in these parts handled this whole case. For what it’s worth, I’m of a mind that she’s been punished enough and should probably be sent out on parole.
If for no other reason, I need to see how the process works in these parts.
If you don’t know who Jessica is or why this matters to me, don’t sweat it. It was an unhappy time in my life and a bunch of crap I had to watch at point blank range. So if anyone wants to say that Jessica should rot in prison or pretty much anything that disagrees with me, be sure to go pound sand right away.
In other news, I’m just back from an idiotic test on that idiotic training we had to sit through. Since the doofus that ordered this “training” got canned, I’d hoped this crap training had gotten canned, but alas, no. I’m afraid I couldn’t resist slipping in some snark. We’ll see how it’s received on high.

That’s it for today. Kinda, but not kinda busy. Weird day.
