It’s Monday, November 29, 2010 and I are sad. Yes, the general big game season came to a close yesterday evening. I’ve had better (more productive) hunting seasons, but I’ve had worse as well. Had some great times with my kids and a really great time with my granddaughter.

132 days until the spring turkey season!

Went back to Ciao Mambo again. As usual, exceptional food and exceptional service. The only downer was the fathead at the table next to us. The wife was one sangria away from having me silence him.

Nice visit from my folks and my brother last week. There are times I wish that I lived closer to the extended family, but they live in Oklahoma and Kansas and Arkansas and Texas.

While it’s appealing to live in a place where they know the proper way to prepare and serve catfish, I’m looking for a place that does not have the two extremes of cold. If the temperature gets up into the 100s in the summer, then it can not get much below 20 in the winter. If it gets to -20 in the winter, then the summer highs may not exceed 85 degrees.

Weeks like this last one however make me want to strap a snow shovel to the front of my truck and start driving south. When I get to a place where someone asks “Hey, what’s that on the front of your truck?” I will drive south another 100 miles and there live out my days.

Given my luck though, I’d get as far as Sheridan and some drunk hillbilly would stagger over and ask me. I’m not enthusiastic about living in Midwest, Wyoming.

Before I forget, this for Tyler:

Hope it helps.

In other news, my brother made it home to Kansas and my folks made it home to Oklahoma. 5-day weekends are the bomb! Looking forward to getting back to work. Not looking forward to driving in though.

For some reason, Billings does not plow its streets. They instead put down sand and gravel to be packed down with the snow, that eventually becomes ice. I guess ice with gravel in it provides more traction than ice without gravel. The also spray some kind of “de-icing” stuff on the road that works like magic when the temperature reaches 33 degrees.

Then it gets cold and we have gravel ice again.

That’s it for today. With visits from kin over with as well as hunting season, I hope to have longer, more glaphernous blogs for your reading pleasure.

Have an awesome Monday and tun in tomorrow for Story Time when we’ll learn what’s REALLY in Deedee’s “coffee” cup.
