He’s No Wanzell!

Filed under: Yeah! Friday! — Elim @ 04:03

It’s Friday, July 29, 2011 and our Editorial Board has one final message for Congress and the President on this debt ceiling silliness:

Dear Men, Women and Children,

I know this is gonna be hard to understand, but please, give it a try.

Look, decreasing the size of an increase is STILL an increase. Let’s say you’re due for a 6% pay raise. Only instead, you get 3%. That’s not a pay cut! Your pay did not go down, it still went up.

A cut in pay results in you getting less money, not the same amount and not more.

Get it?

So, rather than reducing an increase by an amount, we need to decrease the amount.

If for instance this year’s budget for the Dept of Hoohash is $4 billion, a decreased budget would be LESS than $4 billion.

No, no increases, not any. Eliminate increases and reduce the budget.

NOTE: There’s not really a “Dept of Hoohash” so don’t go looking to reduce its budget.

I doubt you’ll understand this, but I had to try.

Etc, etc,
Elim Tevir

Now, onward.

Hola señor Elim,

My aunts and uncles from a few years ago. Uncle Bill (seated) says everyone should try to be more like him.

Can you help them with that?

Kern

Looks like they were well on their way anyhow.

Sadly, the results are again inconclusive, but we are encouraged that 4% knew the correct answer.

That’s it for this most excellent Friday. Be of good cheer and have a most excellent weekend, doing excellent things. Be sure to tune in Monday to learn the outcome of our first ever Lobster Knife Fights!
