It’s Thursday, January 19, 2012 and winter finally decided to show up.

Wrapping up the Reader Mail I couldn’t get to last night…

Hey,
In talking about “independents” I have to wonder what a 3rd party would look like. Republicans have their core issues as do the democrats. How can a party pick a “middle-of-the-road” position on something like abortion or same-sex marriage? Would they say “We’re kind of in favor of _____.”? Is it possible to have an organized party that picks two from column A and two from column B? Butch |

Hi Butch,
Good questions. Have few Hand Salutes on me. I would most definitely have to say maybe. Probably not a lot. To me at least, the root disagreement is over the roll and scope of government. Is there enough people who can agree on something in between the two political extremes? Yes, there most definitely might be. Elim |

Hi Elim,
Congratulations on getting a job! Any chance it will develop into something permanent? Wanda |
Hi Wanda, Thanks. It’s way too early to tell. So far, it’s not a bad gig. It’s a drag being away from the wife, kids, dogs and the cat though. I also miss my afternoon naps.

Hey Elim,
I think I’d rather vote for a candidate that I hated, but with whom I agree policy wise. Lots of people voted for Obama, based on his likeability rather than his policies. Tina |
Hi Tina, I still haven’t decided if I like anyone yet. I’ve already outlined where I disagree with the present candidates. With the exception of Santorum’s position on education, there’s no one who has a position I consider a deal-breaker. I’m pretty sure that likeability is enough to cover the gaps I have between my beliefs and those of the candidates.
So far, it’s not looking likely. Elim |
That’s it for the mail I couldn’t get to yesterday . Kinda tough to do with an internet connection that’s a 50/50 mix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

- I can do without the dining choices in this town.

Can’t wait to get home and some decent chow.
- I can still do without His Obamaness.

Looks like he called the congressional republican’s bluff and rejected the Keystone pipeline. I gotta wonder what he promised to the unions for his siding with the enviro-whackos. So, I guess we’ll just have to wait until we get our new president before we can reduce our dependence on oil from places where the people hate us.
Hooray for us!
That’s it for this week’s list. Remember that tomorrow is Friday and we’re late on Fridays, but it’ll be worth it because I will finally be providing photographic proof of the existence of Madagascar!
