Them’s The Those They Told Us About

It’s Friday, May 29, 2009 and we begin the day pissed off.

I don’t like starting the day pissed off, but when one of the first stories in my morning read is one of mega-douchbaggery, I can’t help it. So it is that we start off with this submission from our Douchebag of the Year Search Committee – Debbie McLucas, a supervisor at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield, Texas was ordered by administrators (who have thus far remained unnamed) to take down her US flag because one or more of her co-workers “found it offensive. “

No, I’m not making this up, the story is here.

A quick check of Google Maps shows that Mansfield, Texas is clearly within the boundaries of the United States of America.

Debbie was initially told that there had been “several complaints” and that some people found it “very offensive.” Further investigation revealed that only one person had complained, a woman who immigrated to the United States from Africa 14 years ago.

Okay, this is a REALLY easy fix. Anyone offended by a properly displayed US flag within the confines of the United States of America, is cordially invited to leave. In this case, Mansfield is 419 miles from the Mexican border and Dallas International Airport is just 37 miles away. I’m sure you can find a destination where US flags won’t offend you so. How about going to North Korea and tell someone there you find their flag offensive?

I don’t care who you are or where you come from, but you do not get to find our flag in any way offensive while on US soil. Instead, hospital administrators told her that the flag on display outside the hospital would have to do. Debbie is the wife of a veteran, both of her sons are veterans and her daughter is currently serving a second tour of duty in Iraq. You have to be one hell of a dumbass to think you can tell this woman that she can’t display a US flag in her office.

After what I’m sure was a blizzard of calls and emails (maybe some beatings), hospital administrators issued the following statement:

“Kindred Hospital Mansfield has a great deal of appreciation for the service that many of our employees and their families have given to their country. We honor our veterans and active military through a variety of benefits and service programs. This was an isolated incident between two employees that we are working to resolve amicably.”
The statement went on to explain: “The disagreement was over the size of the flag and not what it symbolized. We have invited the employee to put the flag back up.”

How can the “size of the flag” be “very offensive?” This is nothing more than some douchebag administrator going overboard with trying to be politically correct. Hopefully, this dipshit has been reminded in enduring ways where exactly he/she is and what exactly that flag stands for. This happened 1,437 miles from here and it pisses me off in ways I can’t begin to verbalize. I’ll say this, if this had been in Billings, Montana, I’d be in jail now for assault with intent to clue.

From there, I flipped over to the local paper’s website and read about 27 year-old Dusty Boggs who is in the joint right now from his 5th DUI arrest. He got his fifth DUI bust while out on bail and awaiting trial for his fourth DUI bust. Not bad. I count 56 days between #4 and #5. It’s actually not at all surprising given the fact that Yellowstone County has THE lamest judges and THE lamest County Attorney in the entire history of lame.

For DUI 4, Mr Boggs was released on $2,500 bond, ordered not to drink or drive and to submit to electronic monitoring by “Judge” Ingrid “Catch-and-Release” Gustafson.

Well, he posted bond at least.

Now he’s in front of “Judge” Watters who at least remained conscious long enough to set bond at $25,000. Now he’ll have to cough up $2,500 instead of a mere $250 in order to bond out.

But this is what we get when we keep returning these retards to the bench and keep reelecting Dennis Paxinos. Yes, yes, he’s ran unopposed the last couple times, but he will not again, even if I have to run against him myself. And I know at least one of my house reps reads my blog from time to time, so get the hooks out of your ass and write some legislation for mandatory sentencing, you low-life piece of shit. You probably want to skip my house next time you’re through on your door-to-door stroll. You’re not gonna dig what I need to tell you.

In other news, we’re doing another Theme Day. Try to guess the theme.

It’s hot in my office again. It’s only 64 degrees outside, but I am again roasting in this moefoe. Got the wife coming down to mark her territory. She does this from time to time, since I work mostly with females and I am pretty much God’s gift to women. But she has laid claim to me, so it is to her that I am true. She’s just coming down to show the colors.

In other news, it turns out that my niece isn’t crazy (beyond the kind necessary to first joint the Air Force and then to want to be a cop in the Air Force) and is to be returned to training forthwith. It’s good that she fought for and won what she wanted. Now, go and prove wrong, no check that, prove how full of shit everyone was for not having faith in you.

Oh, yeah and look, steer clear of the romantic entanglements. At least until you’re at your first base?

For starting out the day pretty mad, I’m still in fine fettle. My arts aren’t coming out as funny as I want, but come Friday, my mind is usually NOT on entertaining people (all three of you) with my great arts.

Just back from lunch at Sarah’s’. I don’t particularly crave California style Mexican food, but this is pretty good stuff and I’ve yet to stagger away from there hungry. Here’s a link to the their website: http://sarahsmexicanfood.com if you’re in downtown Billings around lunch time, I heartily recommend the smothered red burrito.

Which means I’m full as a tick and almost as motivated. A departure from today’s theme.

I got distracted and forgot the theme. Sue me.

Finally for today, I’m even more concerned now over Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. She seems to hold the opinion that state and local governments are not bound by the US Constitution. While I’m no great constitutional scholar, I do know my way around the document and I believe that rights granted by the US Constitution run coast to coast. I mean that’s the point of having a FEDERAL government. These rights are guaranteed to every citizen and the states (counties, cities, etc) don’t have a right to tamper with them. Specifically, where gun ownership is concerned. Judge Sotomayor doesn’t hold with the US Supreme Court’s most recent decision on the matter that determined that a local principality can not infringe upon a right granted by the Constitution. She seems to think states should be able to. I gotta go with the Supremes on this one.

Okay, “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. “

Basically, since we need to have an army to remain free, the people need to be able to protect themselves from that army. It’s a necessary evil as it were and as such the people need to be able to fight it if necessary.

This is a federal issue. So Montana can’t really tell me that I can not arm myself and protect myself against an increasingly intrusive federal government. I think it pretty cut and dried. But Judge Sotomayor strikes me as someone who want me disarmed and not only dependant upon government, but unable to resist it.

No, she worries me and now I am all the more convinced that her nomination has absolutely NOTHING to do with what’s good and right for America, but rather has everything to do with furthering the liberal/socialist agenda. President Obama was quoted yesterday: “I want her confirmed. I want her walking up those marble steps and starting to provide some justice.”

Ummm… So exactly what is it that the US Supreme Court HAS been providing all this time, Mister President? I thought they’d been doing an ok job before Sonia Sotomayer and her superior Latino woman wisdom. Or is her that’s not been providing justice? I’m confused.

No, I’m not. I think I got it right.

Time to push this up and ride out the rest of the week. Safe and pleasant weekend to all. Happy birthday to Lynette. Hope it’s a nice one with lots more to come.
